Rowland wishes farewell to Director Cynthia Friend

On Friday, June 28, 2019, members of the Rowland Institute, both past and present, gathered at a reception to wish a fond farewell to Dr. Cynthia Friend as her time as Director of the Rowland Institute at Harvard came to a close. Dr. Friend held the position of Director for six years. Dr. Friend is the T.W. Richards Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Materials Science at Harvard University and will continue her work as the Director of EFRC-IMASC.

The current Acting Director of the Rowland Institute at Harvard until December 2019 is Dean Christopher Stubbs, Dean of Science at FAS, and Samuel C. Moncher Professor of Physics and of Astronomy.

Dr. Andrew Murray will fill the position as Director of Rowland starting in January 2020. Dr. Murray is the Herschel Smith Professor of Molecular Genetics, Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Director of the John Harvard Distinguished Science Fellows Program.
