Ismail El Baggari has joined the Rowland Institute at Harvard as its newest Rowland Fellow. Ismail received his Ph.D. in Physics from Cornell University before starting at the Rowland Institute.
Ismail’s Imaging Quantum Materials Lab will be using in situ cryogenic electron microscopy to visualize, understand and manipulate quantum materials at the atomic scale. “Our lab seeks to understand and manipulate the properties of quantum materials, a broad class of compounds that exhibit superb electronic, magnetic and structural properties tied to the quantum-mechanical nature of electrons. To arrive at a microscopic understanding, we directly visualize the atomic-scale structure of these materials using cryogenic electron microscopy while simultaneously driving them with external stimuli such as temperature and electric current.”For more information on Ismail, click the link.
